Genesis 1:3 Let there be Light?
And G-d said, Let there be light: and there was light.
In Hebrew,
Awmar Elohim, "hawyaw ore", hawyaw ore .
More specifically, Elohim called out, "Illumination.....come into this existence", and light came.
This verse, like so many others are read over lightly, ignoring some really interesting things about G-d. Things that allow us to gain a more intimate relationship with G-d.
Notice the word "Awmar" which is translated as said. Awmar is word used to call out to someone or something that has an ability to respond. It's like a master calling out to his pet dog and it responds instantly, not so much out of obedience but out of a desire to be next to the one whom he loves more than anything or anyone. This word tells us that illumination or light is something that G-d is very familiar with and calls by name.
We are taught that everything in the creation story are new things created by G-d. Even though there are new things created, there are obviously some are old friends, such as "light".
What a fantastic relationship.... and this is the same kind of relationship you and I have with the creator. He has known you for a long time.
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee.
Jeremiah 1:5
The biggest problem is we can't hear his voice and respond through our sin influenced ears. However, as we grow closer to him, our ears begin to hear his voice.
One parting comment for this blog: Everyone thinks that this light is our sun. How can this be since the sun wasn't made until the fourth day?

Hey again,
ReplyDeleteI hope you do not mind my many questions or discussions:)
To make it easier for you to find my comment I have commented on Genesis 1:3 post.
"One parting comment for this blog: Everyone thinks that this light is our sun. How can this be since the sun wasn't made until the fourth day?"
I have heard an explanation that the sun and stars etc were made on day 1 but on day four they appear through the atmosphere. So from man's perspective the sun and the moon became visable. When I mean man's perspective I think of Joshua and the sun standing still. The sun didn't stand still technically but it did to Joshua's eyes.
They were saying tha the Hebrew word for where God made the sun in day four was past tense and it was more like "God had made". I have not checked up on this thoroughly yet...
blessings to you!

Good Morning Mr. Dan,
ReplyDeleteGood point. We need to put out all possibilities and look at them under scrutiny. I am glad you and I are of like mind. We can't be closed minded to alternative interpretations as some of Atheists and unfortunately some believers.
That is one of the reasons I believe G-d led me to start this blog. So many believers are sold on a certain idea and when science or something proves it wrong, we are shone in a bad light. I feel out witness is damaged in the eyes of whom we are witnessing to.
Do you agree?
BTW. My name is Keith
Shalom,
Keith
Hey again Keith,
ReplyDeleteThankyou for your replies, I'll talk about all my three comments in this comment:) to make it easier.
"That is one of the reasons I believe G-d led me to start this blog. So many believers are sold on a certain idea and when science or something proves it wrong, we are shone in a bad light. I feel out witness is damaged in the eyes of whom we are witnessing to."
I do agree with you!
I like how David Pawson puts it...where there is a contradictionn between scripture and science then there are two answers. Either the scientist has mis-interpreted his evidence or we have misinterpreted the Bible.
Yes we can get put in a bad light. We shouldn't make fun of everything that disagrees with us but tackle them seriously and see if we or they are in error.
I notice that reading through the Bible God qualifies Himself and tells us of the evidence for Him being the real God. Eg. Always refering back to the time he took the Israelites out of Egypt.
God doesn't expect us to believe with blind faith but faith with evidence.
Though sometimes we just need to trust Him (like Abraham).
Moving on,
So you were saying that Adam alone was made on day three and dwelled with God for three days (God days:)) and then on the sixth God made animals and saw that Adam was lonely...so along comes Eve and the rest of mankind in day six LOL.
Have I got your view right?
I am glad that you speak about the Holy Spirit so much; yes He is our Helper!
Shalom to you too.
Dan
Hey Dan,
ReplyDeleteI also glad that you resognize G-ds Holy Spirit at work. I believe recognizing the Spirit could be the sign of the believer in the end times as mentioned in Revelation.
I agree with you about the resolution of our beliefs when there is a contridiction between scripture and science, siding with G-d when there is no resolution. As you say, that's where out faith comes.
As for Adams creation, that's exactly how I interprete it. The Word of G-d clearly states the account of Adam began before the time that the herbs and trees were created, therefore it had to be on or before the third day.
However, I do believe that the Spirit teaches us either directly or through other mediums such as other believers. That is why I ask you for what the Spirit has told you. Doesn't the Bible tell us we are to sharpen each other?
Thanks Again My Brother and Shalom.
Keith
Hey again Keith!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the work your putting into the comments on my blog:)
About Adam, I can see what you are saying and have no real problem with it except for where the Bible says that Adam died at such and such an age...I think 950years was it? Were the years counted from where he left the garden of Eden?
I am an old earther at this stage so I wonder what is meant by those years that Adam lived? Are day 3,4,5, really short?
thanks for your time brother. We do need to sharpen each other up LOL!

There seems to be an unusual migration of atheists onto my blog...there has been faithful Expatmat for while but these other guys?
ReplyDeleteI recognize them from Ray Comfort's blog and have chatted before there.
It's good fun. I just want them to be saved!
Dan
Hey Dan,
ReplyDeleteIt's been fun.
As for Adam, I honestly believe that he and Eve enjoy a dimensionality that you and I don't have the capacity to fully understand. Also, I believe that existence was outside of the constraints of Time-Space. Therefore, I beleive that Adam's years began at the fall. Before that, there were no time effects on Adam. I believe that is how he was able to be in G-ds presence.
I know...it sounds a little like Sci-Fi. Do you think I too far out there?
Um,
ReplyDelete"Therefore, I beleive that Adam's years began at the fall."
I see what you are saying...could be possible? I have thought of it that way before...there is always Einsteins theory of the relativity of time:)
So Adam might be really old!
I don't know till I study it more...I'll keep following what you are saying :) It is always good to discuss!
Also it is good to build each other up in the Lord as well!
I have enjoyed getting to know you, If you ever come to NZ let me know!
Many blessings,
Dan
